While Mommy's Away

It's Saturday and Jason is home so that means I get to run errands ALL BY MYSELF! This is big people. Do you know how often I am alone to do whatever I want, to not have to buckle someone else's seatbelt other than my own, to be able to "run in the store" without it taking 15 minutes just to get in the car to go to the store...not very often so I took advantage of it and ran some errands this afternoon. God bless my husband for taking care of the kids and the house so that I CAN have some me time, even if it does mean going to the post office, the bank, Joann's, and Target for cat food and liter. A few hours later I arrived back home and this is what I saw when I walked in the door...

Only a Dad would put the baby in the highchair to feed her a bottle LOL.

Music to my ears

She laughs for Daddy...She laughs for Mommy...but only Big Sister Peyton can get her to laugh like this!

One Month!

OK, so I am slacking...it's allowed now that we can get out of the house. It's funny, people ask me all the time how I have the time to blog but the answer is simple; when I was home with Addie there was not much for me to do while she slept which gave me plenty of time for blogging. Now that we are out and about and she is napping less, I do it while she sits here and cries...just kidding; it is something I enjoy doing therefor I make time for it. So before she wakes up for the day I would like to get this post done. Ha ha too late, I can hear her playing in her crib, that means I have a few minutes before she starts to cry.

Oh, back to the reason I am slacking. This picture should have been posted last Wednesday as it was one month after Addison's surgery pic. I did take the pic. on her one month anniversary I just had not posted it yet so I thought I had better get on it before I get in trouble with Grandma for not keeping up!

Addison is doing fabulous! She is strong, healthy, and happy...what more can we ask for? AND...she is just an ounce away from 15 lbs! She is still very small for her age (around the 5th percentile) but unless you have a baby her age to compare her to you would never know it. She looks wonderfully healthy!

So here you go Grandma. One month after surgery and better than ever...

Look...it's the Jonas baby sister!

Peyton did Addison's hair. Doesn't she look like she could be the Jonas Brother's baby sister LOL.

Addison goes to school

On Monday I took Addison up to Peyton's school to visit the Kindergarten and First grade classes. The entire student body had been praying for a safe and successful surgery for her but the K and 1st grade classes got to see the picture of her when she came out of surgery. I felt it was important to follow up with them so that they could see how happy she is and how great her scar looks. You know, closure. I had a friend of mine (Rose Silvas) make mini cupcakes with hearts on top for the kids as a thank you from Addie...she even added a special touch by filling them with raspberry filling YUM. The kids were very excited about the cupcakes, then they noticed the baby and got excited about her too. Peyton joined us as we did a Q and A with the kids then showed them all her scar. She was a very proud big sister!

We got some great pics for Addie's scrap book but I can not post them on here because they show the kids in the class. So you'll just have to ooh and aah over the adorable mini cupcakes.

Oh...found a pic. Here we are in the front of the class.

Happy St. Patricks Day

Did you know...
The shamrock was used to represent the Trinity by St. Patrick. By doing this he could show people how the church was connected. St. Patrick used this to symbolize how The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit can be separate but also part of the same entity.

Here are Peyton and Addison wearing their green.

Kidotes (kid quotes)

I used to write this stuff down and have realized I can't find the paper I wrote them on! It's been years since I've jotted down something funny Peyton has said...or has it been years since she said something funny, naw; that's highly unlikely. I'll keep searching for that piece of paper but in the mean time here is a conversation we shared on Sunday:

I decided to try washing her hair in the sink instead of getting soaked trying to wash it from the outside of the shower while she is in the inside trying her hardest NOT to put her head under the water so the soap does not run in her eyes. YES, I give her a wash cloth the hold over her eyes to avoid that but she is crazy what can I say. So as I am washing her hair in the sink she is resting her head inside the basin...
Me- OK honey I need you to lift your head up.
Peyton- Like this (lifting her head)
Me- yes
Peyton- it's hard
Me- I know, it's going to take a little strength on your part but you can do it.
Peyton- But my head is just so heavy cause I've got all that math up there!

THAT's Peyton!

I've never seen a more beautiful heart!

I am so giddy to be saying this...
Addison has officialy been given the ALL CLEAR!
Her echo Friday was beautiful, her surgery was a success, and she is all new again. Look at the before and after on her ultrasounds, it brings tears to my eyes. Actually when I sit back and allow myself to fully take in the magnitude of our 6 month old baby who we prayed and fought so hard to bring into this world having had gone through this by the grace of God unfazed by it all, I am humbled and on my knees with tears of joy and thanksgiving for GOD IS SO GOOD!

BEFORE

AFTER

Just look at how much larger the right side (left on the photo) of her heart is in the first pic., and just 3 weeks later it looks so amazing. The dotted line on the first pic. is where the "wall" should have been, showing how big the hole was. Whereas the second pic shows a beautifly closed division of the upper chambers.

Miracles Happen!

a Onsie & a Bumsie

As you all know I have been resting (stuck) in the house for the past few weeks savoring (and going a little crazy) the delightful (and some not so delightful) days with Addison...and Etsy. During "down time" I researched cute onsies, outfits, dresses, leg warmers, Mommy stuff, and my newest obsession...something called a bumsie. A bumsie is basically a onsie with ruffles on the bum. Although I have no sewing experience (got a D in the class back in 8th grade) and I do not own a sewing machine, I decided to take on the task of creating my own bumsie. A friend of mine just had a sweet baby girl and I wanted to gift her with something special so she was the reciepiant of my first bumsie. Keeping in mind that I HAND drew, cut, and stitched EVERY piece of fabric. Four hours and a cramped hand later this is what I got...

PS. I made the hair flower too!

I have also been working hard to create onsies to match Addison's oh so cute leg warmers. That's right folks, you heard me correct...Leg Warmers are Back and they're not just for grown ups anymore. This is the cupcake onsie I created to go with her cupcake leg warmers...

I so need a sewing machine and some lessons!
Keep checking back, there's more to come :O)

Getting back to normal at the Corsetti house

Addison's appointment went very well today with her Cardiologist. The murmur is gone (yay) and her ECG was normal. She goes back Friday for an echo to make sure there is no fluid around her heart, but I am anticipating and excellent echo as well. She now weighs 14lbs 12oz and has been cleared to join the "real world" again! Life is pretty much back to normal in the Corsetti house. We (the girls and I) were able to join Jason at Mass yesterday and afterwards Allison came home with us to play with Peyton. For fun I let her shoot a few pictures of the girls and I.

Here are the winners...

If your wondering why you hardly ever see any of Jason THIS is why...

HE WON'T LOOK AT THE CAMERA!!!

Jason's Mom came to visit for the afternoon. While enjoying a nice conversation we were suddenly distracted by little giggles and then out pops a CHICKEN! A Peyton chicken that is.

(she is so going to kill me for this when she grows up)

The girls were having a blast putting on Peyton's old costumes and making us laugh. Just a typical day at the Corsetti House!

2 Weeks After Surgery & Doesn't She Have Great Hair!

It's been two weeks since surgery, we'll two weeks and 2 days as I sit and blog this. The picture however; was taken at two weeks exactly :O). The incision looks great and Addison is doing wonderful. We got the OK to take her to church on Sunday and we are excited about that. Although I am sure she has had a wonderful time with her Mommy over the past two weeks stuck in the house she is like her Mommy and big sister and is a social butterfly. She was fussing Monday afternoon when I picked her up and strapped her in her carseat to go to the Dr's. She immediately stopped crying and started smiling. I could see her through the mirror looking at everything as we drove to meet Jason and Peyton.

When we got to the Dr. office she was all smiles. While in the waiting room there was this holy terror of a boy screaming his 3 year old head off! The only time he was quiet was when his Mom gave him a bottle...did I mention he was 3? As he was throwing a hissy fit, arching his back, and smacking the poop out of his Mom while she held him I whispered to Addison, "If you ever act like that Mommy will spank your butt", she started to cry. I know it sounds mean but it was actually quite funny. I gave her a bottle too and she was just fine...heck if a Mom can do it to settle her 3 year old then I can certainly do it for my 7 month old.

We took Peyton to have her ear checked and she was fine. I also snuck Addie in there so the Dr. could see her and listen to her heart as he was the one who found the murmur but due to insurance is no longer her pediatrician :O(. Anywho, he was happy to see her and asked if he could say a prayer for our family right there in the office. We of course gladly accepted his offer and prayed.

She still has her follow up with her cardio on Monday the 9th, and an appointment with her new pediatrician on Wednesday the 11th.

Now for the great hair...

Our girls are total opposite when it comes to their hair and eye color...crazy, I know. I have noticed a lot of red highlight in Addison's hair too. it will be interesting to see how it turns out in another year. Although her hair is much shorter than Peyton's was at this age, and thinner; she still has a great head of hair with body too it! Peyton's was always stick straight...not Addie, she has a funky curl wave like her Mom. (I flat iron my hair ladies and gents).

Check it out, no teasing necessary...
(for the guys out there or the hair impaired girls, teasing is when you "rat" or comb the hair in a special way to make it stand up or more poofy.)
