Toothless

Well, it FINALLY happened! After hoping, pleading, and praying for a year and a half Peyton has lost her first tooth...we'll two actually. It was not the way she was expecting to loose it or should I say them but she was so desperate she was happy with any method.

One night during dinner Peyton announced that her friend Victoria said she (Peyton) has a loose tooth. Being so obsessed with losing a tooth that is all that Peyton could talk about sometimes. I did the polite Mommy thing and said, "Oh really" as I secretly let in go in one ear and out the other. Jason on the other hand actually took a look then with shock in his voice said, "Shea...look in her mouth!" I quickly saw what he did except I thought it was a piece of white rice. What I realized was that it was not rice at all but a tooth that had broke through and was growing behind her other front bottom tooth. Needless to say I got her to the dentist and low and behold there was another tooth right next to the back one ready to pop up out too. Peyton ended up having her two front bottom teeth pulled to make room for the new guys. I hear it is common but I am a little freaked out about the new ones being so far back and needing to come forward.

Peyton was the model patient and I could not have been prouder. She sat so still and did not shed a tear. I think mainly because I pleaded with her not to scream and wake up the baby...LOL. Or perhaps she was fantasizing about the Tooth Fairy that would be visiting her that night. And that she did! I took out her special gold tooth fairy pillow that I purchased for her 5 years ago and Peyton tucked her two baby teeth in the little pocket. That night as Jason tucked her into bed she placed her little pillow under her big pillow and quickly drifted away to lullaby land. She awoke in the wee hours of the morning to use the potty and as she entered her room half asleep Jason heard her say, "Wait a minute...is this...did the...(she turned the light on)...it is...it's fairy dust from the tooth fairy!" She took out her little gold pillow and discovered the $5 and the trail of "fairy dust" from her window seal to her pillow that the Tooth Fairy had left behind. She is one happy toothless kid!

As time passes by, those new teeth will naturally come forward. I'm surprised about the fact that Peyton didn't cry when her two front teeth were pulled. You should have posted the special gold tooth fairy pillow you bought her five years ago.
