We recently took a trip up north to visit Jason's Grandmother which would be the girls Great Grandma, Cousins, second Cousins, and Auntie Carol and Auntie Diane (Jason's Sisters). It was a short tip but such a nice one. The weather was crisp and the scenery was beautiful...although the drive was l-o-n-g the girls did pretty well.
On our first day we had a lovely dinner that Cissy made and served in her beautiful SLAH pieces. For those of you who know me or have been to one of my parties you know how much I love my SLAH (Southern Living At Home)...and Cissy sells it! I was like a kid in a candy store. Peyton hit if off with her cousin Lauren as if they played together everyday. Great was there and poor sweetie broke her tooth on Cissy's steak...LOL. Actually, we were told it has happened before and it was not because of the meat but I did get a kick out of how she kept saying she broke it on Cissy's steak. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to her stories and watching her face light up when she saw the girls. Curt came home early from his trip to have dinner with us and thank goodness he did because Addie took quite a liking to him as he did her too.
Our second say we spent some time with Great chatting and enjoying the company of each other. That evening we met up with Jason's sisters for dinner. Friday night driving into Sacramento is just like Friday night driving to OC or LA...YUCK! But the trip certainly was worth it once we got to see Carol and Diane. We shared laughs over dinner then shared desert. Oh how Peyton loves to play with her Auntie Carol! It was a wonderful evening and we are glad we made it.
On our third and final day we stopped by to spend a few minutes with Great to say goodbye. She commented on how long it would be and she wondered how big the girls would be the next time she see them...I just pray it is not too long. Afterwards we headed out to breakfast and then cousin Steven's. He gave us a tour of his lovely home and when we got to the upstairs Peyton spotted Emily's toy room and that was the last we saw of her until it was time to go home...tee hee. Shelly was able to stop by for a few minutes to say hello, that was nice. It was a nice afternoon. We are gad we made the trip out there. As we were piling into the van to head out Peyton bent over to look at the rocks around the tree in Steve and Shelly's front yard. I quickly told her she could not take one of the rocks because they belong to them (Peyton loves to pick up rocks, sticks, and leaves). She frowned a bit then blushed as she realized what had just happened and put the rock back down. Shelly told her to hold on a moment as she ran into the house and came back with a tin filled with beautiful rocks for Peyton to take home. Needless to say Peyton was on cloud nine...thank you Shelly!
We made it home safe, sound, and pooped.
